As we leave the summer months behind us and head towards the busy Autumn period, it’s very important for all businesses to be gearing up for the end of financial year.
Now is a great time to be checking in with your accountants and financial advisers and establishing various checklists to help you prepare. There’s so much more than EOFY preparation than the standard ATO compliance requirements, as well as may great opportunities to finish off the financial year on a positive note. It’s not too late to invest in some positive Autumn marketing activities or identifying opportunities to undertake some team member training initiatives to boost skills and morale in the workplace.
We fully appreciate there are many distractions around business right now from State Government Debt to a looming Federal Election and the roulette wheel of Trumpism. But that makes it even more important that we all focus on the things we can control within our own business and local environment. The GSBN Board, through our proactive partnership with VCCI and strong advocacy with local government, is here to support you in your endeavors to build local business connectivity.
Stephen Schneider
President – GSBN

At the end of February, GSBN President Stephen Schneider travelled to Melbourne to meet with Alexander Tzelepis and Stephen Levickis from the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). This meeting reinforced the ongoing partnership between GSBN and VCCI, with discussions focused on how the Victorian Chamber can further support GSBN members and provide valuable resources to help businesses in Greater Shepparton thrive.
VCCI is a key advocate for Victorian businesses, offering expert guidance, business support services, and advocacy at both state and federal levels. Through our partnership, GSBN members have access to a range of benefits, including business advisory services, workplace relations support, training programs, and networking opportunities.
During the meeting, Stephen explored ways to enhance the value GSBN members receive from this partnership, ensuring that businesses within our network can leverage the extensive expertise and resources offered by VCCI. The discussion also highlighted opportunities for collaboration on upcoming events, training sessions, and initiatives tailored to the needs of businesses in Greater Shepparton.
This ongoing relationship between GSBN and VCCI is an important step toward strengthening business support in our region, helping local businesses navigate challenges, grow, and succeed.

The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) was established in 2016 to advocate for, and give assistance to, small business and family enterprises. This includes assistance with disputes.
The independent review considers whether the ASBFEO’s functions and operations are effective, and further feedback is bought sought through a survey.
The survey will help the Independent Reviewer to ensure the ASBFEO is meeting the needs of the small business community.
Small businesses, family enterprises, the franchising sector and their representatives are invited to provide feedback through the survey. The survey closes on 31 March 2025.
