Welcome to a jam-packed April GSBN Newsletter.
A Federal or State election provides an opportunity for local government to put forward strong cases for funding commitments to underpin critical local infrastructure projects. The GSBN Executive have been working with Greater Shepparton City Council Executive and key stakeholders to identify the critical projects relevant to the future growth of Greater Shepparton.
We encourage everyone to take some time to learn more about these critical infrastructure projects by reading the Federal Government Funding Advocacy Document. The detailed report was launched by GSCC in recent days and full details can be found on the GSCC website.
To suggest there is a bit going on in the world right now is an understatement. The noise surrounding the Australian federal election, global unrest and the shifting sands of decisions made in the USA are influencing business decisions and consumer behaviour. What we would like to remind each of our members is that the superpower of small to medium business is our ability to be agile in an ever-changing business environment.
There has never been a more important time to stay informed and connect with fellow GSBN members through our vibrant networking events.
On behalf of the GSBN board and our team, we wish you all a happy and safe school holidays / positive Easter trading period.

President – GSBN
Running a small business means wearing many hats and constantly adapting to new challenges. Whether you’re looking to refine your processes, improve customer experience, or stay ahead of the curve, these actionable tips can help your business grow and thrive in 2025.
1. Automate the Small Stuff
Time is one of your most valuable resources. Take a look at your daily tasks – are there any that could be automated? Things like appointment scheduling, invoicing, social media posting, and email responses can all be streamlined using affordable tools like:
→ Trello or Asana for project management.
→ Canva for easy, on-brand marketing content.
→ Xero or MYOB for bookkeeping and payroll.
Reducing manual tasks frees you and your team up to focus on big-picture strategy.
2. Focus on Customer Relationships, Not Just Transactions
Customers are more likely to return when they feel valued. Implementing simple relationship-building practices like personal follow-ups, loyalty discounts, and remembering special milestones can go a long way. Even a quick thank-you message post-sale can leave a lasting impression.
3. Make Data Your Friend
Do you really know which products or services are performing best? Which marketing channels bring the most return? Start tracking key metrics like website traffic, customer acquisition cost, and repeat business. Free tools like Google Analytics or insights from your social media accounts can reveal trends you might otherwise miss.
4. Strengthen Your Online Presence
More and more people search online before deciding where to shop or who to work with. Even if you operate locally, your digital presence matters. Make sure:
→ Your Google Business Profile is up to date.
→ Your website is mobile-friendly and easy to navigate.
→ Your social media content reflects your brand and connects with your audience.
5. Lean On Your Network
You don’t have to do it all alone. Get involved in your local business community (like GSBN!), ask questions, attend networking events, and find opportunities to collaborate. Some of the best business advice, referrals, and partnerships come from people right here in your own backyard.
Pro Tip: Block out one hour each month to review your operations, marketing, and finances. Small, consistent improvements are often more sustainable (and more effective) than trying to overhaul everything at once.

Creating an inclusive community benefits everyone – residents, visitors, and businesses alike. The Greater Shepparton City Council is committed to improving access and inclusion across the region, and one of their key resources is the Access Guide: Promoting Greater Access in Greater Shepparton.
This guide has been developed to support individuals living with a disability, older residents, and families with young children in navigating public spaces and local services. It also helps businesses understand how to be more inclusive and access to all customers.
By reviewing your premises and customer experience through the lens of accessibility, you’re contributing to a stronger, more connected community. So let’s all work together to promote greater access in Greater Shepparton – because a more inclusive region is a more successful one.
We are excited to share a new addition to the GSBN website – the Members at a Glance page! This dedicated space proudly showcases the logos of all current Greater Shepparton Business Network members, offering a visual snapshot of the diverse and thriving businesses that make up our network.
Whether you’re a long-standing member or newly joined, this page highlights the strength, reach, and variety of industries represented within GSBN – from local retailers and professional service providers to manufacturers, creatives, and everything in between.
If your business logo is missing or needs updating, please reach out to us at members@gsbn.net.au and we’ll make sure you’re featured correctly.
Let’s celebrate our members and continue building a strong, visible network across Greater Shepparton!
